We have a big batch this week.
I love old cars. I was raised with my dad’s obsession with classics—he owns a 1954 Cadillac 62-Series Sedan, among others—and it wasn’t unusual for me to attend car shows with the family. We used to go on tours with an Ontario Model T Club in his 1923 Model T (the one that set itself on fire in front of a volunteer fire department in Southern Ontario), and we watch a lot of old car stuff on TV.
Between the old cars and a lifetime of flea markets, auctions, and antique malls, it’s no wonder I got into this sort of thing.
Anywho.
Finding photographs that contain what are now old cars is exciting for me because it shows them as part of regular life, not set up for advertising purposes or as a prop. These cars are treasures to us now—and at one time, they were thought of the same way we think of our modern cars! Just part of the routine.
Look at them all! It’s just another day at the races.
Travel photographs are some of the most interesting. Headed somewhere, enjoying the scenery, maybe even stopping to see the sights. I wonder what sort of trip they were on?
Proud moments, maybe. We at least have a year for one of these photos—1957.
Candid moments. Homecoming moments.
Lastly, my favourite photo from this batch, further confirmation that cats are one thing above all else.
Ungovernable.
